Prox crankshaft oil seals

At each end of the crankshaft there are two oil seals, which are particular gaskets that create a seal on a rotating pin of the crankshaft and are essentially rubber rings held by a metal casing; the seal is created by a rubber lip held in compression along the entire circumference by a circular spring.

These two oil seals prevent the leakage of air from the outside into the crankcase in the intake stroke (when the piston goes up) and the leakage of mixture from the crankcase to the outside in the compression stroke (when the piston goes down).
